Manufactured between 1854 and 1858, This canister of Ether is a beautiful piece, symbolizing the beginning of larger production of anesthetic for surgeries and more, thanks to E.R. Squibb, and his creation of a distillation method that made this brand the leader for ether for almost 100 years.

E.R. Squibb would eventually merge with Bristol - Meyers over a hundred years later, ending a medical titan's well earned claim to fame.

This canister is copper protected (as you can see on its stamp!), to prevent leaking or rust, so it's in impeccable shape, It has never been opened and the label, those dogeared as shown on the top corner, is still very much intact.

As this is an antique, while the liquid is likely no longer effective for its intended purpose, and has more than likely broken back down into an alcohol and alkyl halide product, and should still not be opened for any reason.

This canister is 4 inches tall with lid, and 2 inches wide.
